Analyst

Analysts at Nampa Police are on the forefront of technology to create heat maps showing crime trends, patterns and areas requiring more attention from patrol. They are utilized in investigations to create behavioral trend patterns and complete suspect profiles to aid Detectives.

Analyst perform a wide variety of work such as, researching and writing reports; entering and retrieving data in a computer records system researching a variety of sources to locate individuals, events, information and statistics; Compiling sensitive, fact-finding information for review. One of the many skills an Analyst must possess is the ability to speak in public, conduct relative training, and interact with police officers and command staff.

The ability to gather, assemble, analyze and evaluate facts and evidence and draw logical conclusions and make proper recommendations. Ability to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive written reports. Ability to prepare graphs, tables and statistical charts. Ability to develop and maintain analysis system procedures and records. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment.

Ability to utilize hardware and software to retrieve data from internal and external sources from software systems to include, Microsoft Office XL, PowerPoint, word processing, and spreadsheet. Ability to download data into appropriate software, and develop documents as requested. Ability to attend and successfully complete relevant training courses. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with public officials, departmental employees, the general public, and other law enforcement agencies.
